Today was a good day, and not just because of the long-awaited premiere of Project Runway (more on that to follow). It was my 1st day off after working 8 days in a row, and it was great to finally have a day to get things done. Nothing major. Just a lot of those things that you tell yourself you should do/need to do… making that Dr appointment, trip to the post office, calling my friend in the hospital, finally moving my latest art project from the planning/designing phase to the execution phase. That was especially gratifying, and I got to bust out my handy-dandy sewing machine 🙂
Luckily I sewed a few scraps together before starting on my good fabrics… somewhere down the line someone (by someone I mean me) messed with the tension know and the stitches looked horrible. But thans to wikiHow I got it fixed up pretty fast and made substantial progress on my project. Sorry, said project is most likley going to be a gift… I’m such a procrastinator I figure I should start now if I want to get things made by this coming holiday season… I’m probably already behind, oh dear.
And speaking of sewing, a little show started toinght called PROJECT RUNWAY! Eeekkk! And it was fantastic! I was worried that the move to a different network might mean changes to the concept/filming of the show. But the transition appeares to be seamless.
I love this show. And it’s not because I have any fashion design skill whatsoever… & for the majority of my life I’ve probably been the exact opposite of what anyone would consider fashionable (unless the sweatshirt-jeans-flip flops look is hitting the runway anytime soon). The reason I fell in love with Project Runway (mid first season) was because I was just fascinated by the skill and vision these designers had. I love watching and listening to people talk and do things they are genuinely passionate about (in turn I ended up falling in love with Top Chef too).
This season looks like it wont disappoint. You forget how many designers there are in the beginning of the season! It’s an interesting group, and I’m not sure I have a favorite yet. But it’s very cool that Christopher won, his dress awesome and fit the challenge of red carpet with innovation. Johnny really needs to stop crying. Seriously, if the production staff of the show is going to continue his “but I’m a recovering drug addict” arch, I may need to write them a professionally worded letter. I was honestly amazed “they” chose to send Ari home already. Of course by “they” I mean the judges + the producers who get a say in the matter… Ari was bring that crazy element that every season has, that loose cannon you cant wait to see fire off one “i dont get it” piece after another. At least it means we’ll get to see Mitchell one more week…
